The Graduation Coach position is the first program of its kind to be implemented in Washington County. The coach's primary responsibility is to help students succeed in school by keeping them on track academically or offer them alternatives to dropping out. The vision of the Graduation Coach is to be an active, supportive role in the schools and a resource for the family. The ultimate goal is to significantly reduce drop-out rates and increase the graduation rates; however the mission of the Daniel Boone High School Graduation Coach goes beyond the numbers. The mission is to counsel, mentor, and inspire students to believe in their own strength and potential for ultimate success in school and beyond. The desire is to show students what is possible and, more importantly, to have an impact by establishing positive, caring relationships. The mission can be accomplished through team work with teachers, staff, administration, school counselors and parents The goal of lowering the drop out rate and assisting students in graduating is not a "one man job" or woman in this case. It will take the cooperation of everyone who touches the lives of our students.
