Summer School
Monday through Friday June 3 through July 3; closed July 4 through July 12; it will resume July 15 through July 19. End of Course testing is scheduled for July 22 through July 26.
4H camp this summer for youth ages 12-18 who has a parent currently serving in the military. The cost is $15. For more information come by the office to get a flyer.
Rick Wagner will be offering the driving portion of Drivers Education this summer at Daniel Boone High School. There is a fee involved. DBHS Students should contact Mr. Wagner directly if they are interested in signing up.
Congratulations to the following students for winning the Walters State Creative Writing Competition:
Grand Prize Winner: Keith Maultbay for his one act play "Calla Lily." Keith won a full one year scholarship to Walters State and an iPad.
Poetry Division Winner: Peyton Steelman for her poem "Russia." Peyton won a $25 iTunes gift card.
Prose Division Winner: Victoria Warren for her short story "Stakes, Crosses, and Holy Water." Victoria won a $25 iTunes gift card.
Daniel Boone Creative Writing students swept the awards for the second year in a row. In addition, the following students were published in the anthology Among These Hills: Ciera Wilson, Sam Donoho, Kenzie Wyatt, Haven Sanders, Caitlyn Flemming, Ashley Saunders, Rowan Seets, Adrien Jones, Colin Morgan, Jenny Gregg, and Reagan Tuttle.
Congratulations to Beth Stephens for winning First Place in the 2013 Congressional District Art Contest with her painting, "Shattered."

Beth's painting will be professionally framed and sent to Washington, D C for exhibit in the Congressional Tunnel for a year. This marks the second year in a row that a Daniel Boone student has captured the First Place Award.

Also receiving Congressional Certificates as Finalists in the 2013 Exhibition in Morristown were Chelsie Collins for her drawing, "Tennessee Time," Ashlyn York for her painting, "Flowers in Her Hair," and Celeste Ward for her painting, "Return If Possible."
Mr. Houser received the Art Instructor of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Tryouts / Auditions
Any boy or girl interested in trying out for the golf team, stop by and see Coach Martin, in room 610, before the end of the school year.
Anyone interested in Boy's Basketball tryouts MUST see Coach Arnold this Week.
There will be a meeting in the ROTC classroom immediately after school on Thursday, May 16th for all ladies wishing to try out for soccer this summer.
Any student trying out for baseball or softball for next year will need to stop by the gym before lunch and fill out some tryout information. Tryouts for both baseball and softball will be May 28th & 29th. You must attend both days and this is the only OPEN tryout for these two sports.
