Awarded to a full-time student entering his/her freshman year in an accredited U.S. college/university, this scholarship is not limited to a particular curriculum. Applicants are required to submit the following documentation: a 300 to 500-word essay, transcripts, resume, narrative on patriotic endeavors, and three letters of recommendation from a minister, C.A.R. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship applications are now available. 500 four-year awards will be given, ranging from $1000 to $15000 per year. THE HAGAN SCHOLARSHIP

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients “regardless of nationality” with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. Applicants must graduate from a high school located in the United States. Eligible high schools include public, private, charter, magnet, and STEM schools. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2023 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $100,000. Scholarships provide up to $7,500 per semester. Free workshops, Free Schwab Brokerage Accounts, and Free Study Abroad provide recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically covered in the school curriculum. Recipients graduating college while in the Hagan Scholarship Program can apply for a Hagan Graduate Scholarship good for up to four additional semesters in college. Live Más Scholarship

Eligibility

The Live Más Scholarship Program is open only to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be a legal resident of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia (“D.C.”) located within the United States or D.C., or the dependent child of an active duty member of the U.S. military, who is at least 16 years of age and no older than 26 years of age

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational program located in the United States or D.C. (including accredited two- and four-year colleges, universities, vocational-technical, and trade schools) and in good academic standing.

  • Applicant must be willing to work with the Taco Bell Foundation’s Scholarship Management Company throughout the application and award process.

DEWALT Trades Scholarship

Stanley Black & Decker has established the DEWALT Trades Scholarship to assist individuals attending a two-year college or vocational-technical school who are pursuing a trade degree/certificate in an industry aligned with the Stanley Black & Decker Trade Goals – including but are not limited to Construction, Industrial, Motor/Power Sector, Mechanics, and Technology.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants of the DEWALT Trades Scholarship award must:

  • Be citizens of the United States or Canada.

    • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduate students.

    • Plan to enroll or are enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the entire 2025-2026 academic year.

    • Majoring in a trade construction, industrial, motor/power sector, mechanics, or technology degree/certificate, which includes but are not limited to the following fields:

Notification

You will be notified of the status of your application in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Past recipients may not re-apply.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Stanley Black & Decker. Payments are made in early August.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Trade essay

  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities

  • Work experience

  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives

  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

  • Consideration of academic record

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Academic evaluation will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Assuming there are qualified applicants, preference will be given to those who self-identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, indigenous people of Canada, and/or be an individual with a disability, and/or self-identify as LGBTQIA+.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Stanley Black & Decker play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Trade Essay Topic

U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation Scholarship

Open to seniors; There are two different grants offered. A $1,500 grant is awarded to students applying to a four year college that has a 3.75 GPA or higher. AMERICAN LEGION ORATORICAL CONTEST

TN ELKS ASSOCIATION TRADE SCHOLARSHIP

Open to seniors who will be pursuing a career/technical program such as welding, construction, millwright, etc. Must have a 3.0 GPA or a 20 or higher on the ACT; preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need; students should complete a portfolio including a 400 word essay explaining why they have chosen their trade as a career, letters of recommendation, and awards and pictorials applicable to their career path. TN STATE DAR SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: January 31

A $2,500 scholarship ($1,250 in the fall semester, $1,250 in the spring semester) is granted to a graduating senior who will be attending an accredited U.S. college/university granting a degree.  This may be a nursing school or junior college, but not a vocational school.  A 150 to 300-word essay is required, transcripts, resume, and two letters of recommendation from a minister, scout leader, employer, or educator.

TN GROCERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicaton Deadline: February 28

  • Those eligible to apply are high school seniors, college freshman, sophomores and juniors who are either:

    • Children or spouses of full-time employees of companies that are members of TGCSA.  The employee must have been employed for at least two years as of January 1 of the year in which scholarships are awarded.

    • Part-time employees of companies that are members of TGCSA. The student must have been employed for at least six months as of January 1 of the year in which scholarships are awarded.

  • Two types of TGEF Scholarships are awarded.

    • One-year awards ranging from $500 to $1,800 for graduating high school seniors and college students who are children of full-time employees or part-time student employees.

D. FRED & MARIAN L. BOVIE TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP

CHILDREN OF WARRIORS NATIONAL SCHOLARHIP

Application Deadline: March 1

Three $5,000 scholarships are awarded annually per geographic division, for a total of 15 scholarships. These scholarships are for undergraduate study only at an accredited college or university, and may be used for tuition, books, fees, room, and board.

Scholarship Rules

  1. Candidates for this award shall be direct descendants of veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion: April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918; and any time after December 7, 1941. Membership in The American Legion Family is not required for this scholarship.

  2. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school.

  3. This is a scholarship to attend an accredited institution of higher education.

  4. Applicants must complete 50 hours of volunteer service within the community during their high school years. Hours must be verified in writing by the recipient organization(s).

EEqual is a youth-run non-profit that has a program designed to cover the tuition cost for higher education for high school seniors experiencing extreme poverty or homelessness. To apply, students must have a minimum 2.0 unweighted GPA, have succeeded in spite of poverty or homelessness, have participated in activities that are helpful to others, and have demonstrated financial need. JOSEY BAKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Open to graduating seniors in Northeast Tennessee or Southwest Virginia with a 3.0 GPA, interested in an agriculture or construction-related area. HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP

Applications open December 1st.

The Horatio Alger Association will award up to 600 scholarships to high school juniors . Scholarships can be up to $25,000. Recipients will also receive personalized financial aid counseling, college selections advisement and other support services.

  • Eligibility:

STAN & THELMA PLUMLEE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Open to Seniors, Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to students attending a trade/technical/2 year or 4 year college. Students must be affiliated with the manufactured housing industry including those who live in a manufactured or modular home, work in the manufactured or Modular Housing Industry, or have a relative who works in the manufactured or modular home industry. FEDERAL EMPLOYEE EDUCATION AND ASSISTANCE FUND

Offers 200 scholarships for civilian employees of the federal government and postal workers; scholarships are from $1,000 to $5,000; students must have a 3.0 GPA; applications are available from January to March each year.  Apply at www.feea.org 

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF JOHNSON CITY SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: March 19

Open to senior girls graduating from a Tri-Cities area school; must be attending a 4-year local university (King, ETSU, Milligan, Tusculum, Kingsport Higher Education Center); have demonstrated outstanding extracurricular involvement and volunteer commitment to the community; have 3.0 GPA or higher. SOUTHERN AUTOMOTIVE WOMEN'S FORUM SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility Requirements

Female high school senior or graduate; Applicants must submit applications before graduating from high school or receiving a GED.

Enrolled or enrolling in a college or university in any of the following Southern states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Enrolled or enrolling in an accredited higher education institution

Minimum GPA requirements: cumulative: 2.5 and major: 3.0 (must be maintained)

BELIEVING IN HOME OWNERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

  • Open to seniors who complete a 500 word essay on "What Home Ownership Means to Me;" Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. There will be no more than one winner from any high school. Winners will be asked to notify the Bristol TN/VA Association of REALTORS about their High Schools Award Day to receive their scholarship certificate only. King Law Gives Back Scholarship

In 2017, King Law started the King Law Gives Back Scholarship Program, awarding $1,000 scholarships annually to seniors in North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and Eastern Tennessee. This year, we'll select three seniors for $1,000 scholarships, aiming to invest in the local community and support academic goals while recognizing leadership qualities.

Applicants are required to submit an essay to our team and recipients are selected based on their college plans, career goals, and creative writing.

AFA TEENS FOR ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS SCHOLARSHIP

  • Open to Seniors planning to enter a four-year accredited college or university. Students complete an autobiography and write a 1,200-1,500 word essay that answers the following questions:

    • How has Alzheimer's disease changed or impacted your life?

    • What have you learned about yourself, your family and/or your community in the face of coping with Alzheimer's disease?

APPALACHIAN FAIR SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: April 10

Open to seniors who have participated in the Appalachian Fair within the last two years. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher, provide three letters of reference, and write a short essay. Two $1,000 awards will be given. Applications are available in the counseling office.

TN HOSPITALITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The TN Hospitality Foundation began its scholarship program to recognize students who are furthering their education in the hospitality and tourism industry and who are excelling in study, work, and related school activities. THEF's mission is to equip the next generation of hospitality and tourism professionals with the skills they need to succeed in the industry. Student must have a 2.7 GPA or higher and worked or currently working in the Hospitality and tourism industry. There are three scholarships awarded in the amounts of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,500.

AMVETS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

  • AMVETS offers two different scholarship programs open to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. They must have been a child or grandchild of a veteran, demonstrating academic promise & financial need. Winners must agree to allow AMVETS to publicize winning information.
