Coordinated School Health

Coordinated School Health connects physical, emotional, and social health with education through a coordinated approach designed to improve children's health and their capacity to learn. The goal of the program is to eliminate health-related barriers to learning so that teachers can teach and students can learn.  Efforts to meet this goal are conducted through an eight-component model.  Each of the eight components addresses a particular aspect of the coordinated approach.  The components are:

  • Health Education

  • Health Services

  • Nutrition

  • Physical Education | Physical Activity

  • Healthy School Environment

  • School Counseling, Psychological and Social Services

  • Student, Family and Community Involvement

  • School Staff Wellness
