For the classes in this column, the tech training lab is at Boones Creek Elementary room D120. 

HOW TO FIND IT: The address is 132 Highland Church Rd, Johnson City. Park in the front. During summer school, the staff can buzz you in the front door. Enter the main hallway on the right side of the lobby. Follow the main hallway down past the Library and D120 will be on the left. If you cannot get in call or text me at 423-434-4937 so I can let you in.

HOW TO JOIN: Open Google Meet from your Google Apps button or go to meet.google.com. Use the Join Code: summer2024. It's the same Join Code for all sessions.

ONLINE CLASS TIPS

Don't come just to watch. Plan to participate in the guided lessons in which we are usually producing something or an outcome that is useful. If you have the ability to do so, I recommend you use two devices: one to connect to our Google Meet class and the other, not in Google Meet, to work on and follow along. With this setup you can see my screen and yours at the same time. Devices that can connect to Google Meet are: phones, PCs, laptops, Chromebooks, Viewsonic Boards, Cleartouch Boards, iPads, & Macs. If you don't have two devices, you can use two browser tabs: one for the Google Meet class and another to work on and follow along. 

ABOUT YOUR TRAINER

These classes are taught by Instructional Technologist, Carol Birkner, who has 24 years' training experience with Washington County. A sign-in sheet will be provided to log your attendance and a certificate emailed to you. If you have further questions or wish to suggest a training topic, email Carol Birkner.
