Hello! My name is Mrs. Moates, and I am so excited to get to know you this year!

Let me start by telling you a little bit about me! I have lived in Johnson City my whole life. I am a product of Washington County Schools. I attended Gray Elementary, Ridgeview Elementary, and Daniel Boone High School. I graduated from ETSU with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have also completed the MathElites and SciencElites Eastman Scholar Programs through ETSU.

I was selected to represent Washington County and East Tennessee in the 2022-2023 Tennessee Rural STEM Collaborative that allows select teachers across the state to address rural STEM needs.

I was honored to be selected as the K-4 2024 West View Teacher of the Year and K-4 2024 Washington County Schools District Teacher of the Year.

I was also honored to be recognized by NIET (National Institute for Excellence in Teaching) during the 2023-2024 school year as a model teacher.

This will be my 5th year teaching 4th grade Math and Science at West View.

In my free time, I love to shop, sing, watch college football (Go Vols!) and Netflix, read, and most importantly, spend time with my family and friends. I am married to my wonderful husband, Hunter.

My favorite food is by far Pal's! You will probably see me with a Pal's sweet tea in my hand every day! I even worked there for a few years, and it still never gets old! My favorite color is purple, and my favorite places to be are on a cruise, or by the pool/beach with a good book! I also am the percussion instructor for the Daniel Boone High School drumline.

I am so blessed to work at such an amazing school with incredible students, parents, faculty, and community! I am so grateful to call West View my home!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or just to say hi at moatesj@wcde.org.

I am looking forward to learning about you, and having a fun and safe school year!
